KMM Celebrates 25th Anniversary
Fairfield, N.J. – Feb 4, 2016 – KMM, a leading provider of logistics and services to the U.S. communications industry, is celebrating 25 years in business this month.
Katherine M. McConvey founded KMM in 1991, after recognizing an opportunity to address the Regional Bell Operating Companies’ rapidly-changing supply chain needs. Under her leadership, KMM grew from a modest cable cutting and distribution company into a national provider of supply chain services. KMM holds major contracts with leading carriers, original equipment manufacturers, tower companies and system integrators, including Verizon, AT&T, Ericsson and Crown Castle.
“I am incredibly proud of reaching this milestone,” says McConvey, Chairman and CEO. “I could have never predicted how much KMM would grow, both in skill and scale, nor could I have predicted that we would foster such solid and enduring relationships with our customers. I define success as having people you want to work with and for on a daily basis; at KMM we have both.”
KMM has stayed true to its roots in cable and materials management, but has significantly expanded its capabilities in the last few years to meet the ever-changing needs of its customers in the dynamic telecommunications industry. In addition to its core service offerings, which include inventory and warehouse management, forward and reverse logistics and in-market staging, KMM employs a wide range of solution-based supply chain services to support wireless and fiber deployment, network decommissioning, and microwave and data center deployment.
“What makes KMM unique is our ability to deliver an integrated solution that can streamline the deployment process,” explains Nick Shanker, President. “We aren’t just in the business of sourcing, purchasing and managing the materials needed for deployment projects; we can also design, build and maintain said network. KMM has the resources and the know-how to manage your project from start to finish, which translates into reduced costs, improved accuracy and faster time to market for our customers.”
KMM operates multiple Tier 1 facilities across the U.S. and works with its expansive network of 3PL partners and strategic suppliers to deliver cost-effective, in-market services for its customers. KMM’s commitment to operational excellence and quality has resulted in numerous Supplier Excellence Awards, but Shanker makes it clear that this is no time for the company to rest on its laurels.
“Although we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, we’re committed to maintaining our momentum,” explains Shanker. “We don’t shy away from change; we thrive on it. It’s one of the reasons we’re so entrenched in the telecom industry. We’ll continue to adopt the latest technologies, make strategic acquisitions and grow our team to fulfil our vision of being the leader in delivering tailored supply chain solutions to the telecom industry. We’re already looking forward to what the next 25 years will bring.”
